Maritime Traffic Control and Surveillance Service / Ploce Port Control Center
Ploce Port Authority’s mission is to ensure safe and efficient use of the port (Ploče maritime port and Metkovic river port) by those who are entitled to use its facilities and to navigate its waters. This includes duties of regulating navigation and traffic density, planning, systematic surveilling and controlling vessels’ movement and protecting the environment.
- The Maritime Traffic Control and Surveillance Service exchanges and shares information on vessel traffic services and maritime security affairs.
- Maritime Traffic Control and Surveillance Service exchanges information with vessels and various port operators such as pilots, terminal operators, tug operators and shipping agents.
Vessel Arrival Procedures
Before vessel’s arrival at Ploce port, vessel master or shipping agent has to provide a written information (Notice of Arrival) to Ploce Port Authority and the Harbour Master’s Office:
- At least 24 hours before vessel’s arrival or at the latest when departing previous port, if the navigation is less than 24 hours (48 hours before arrival when transporting dangerous goods or if the goods will be loaded).
Changes (added, deleted or altered information) to the arrival notice must be communicated as soon as possible, but at least:
- An hour before the arrival of a port pilot (Lat. 43 ° 01.6 ‘N., Long 17 ° 22.1’ E).
- Six hours before arrival at the pilot boarding point in the case of pilotage of gas carriers (liquefied petroleum gas, liquefied natural gas) and tankers carrying hazardous liquids (Lat. 43 ° 05.0 ‘N., Long 17 ° 00.0’ E ).

Additional information on vessel arrival
Radi unaprjeđivanja vezano za uvjete iz Međunarodnog kodeksa o sigurnosnoj zaštiti brodova (ISPS), svi brodovi koji se javljaju Luci Ploče moraju uvrstiti sljedeće podatke u «Najavi dolaska»: podaci o međunarodnoj svjedodžbi o sigurnosti broda (ISSC).
- Datum izdavanja i datum isteka ISSC svjedodžbe broda;
- Naziv uprave/priznate zastave koja je izdala ISSC svjedodžbu;
- Izjava o tome da se provodi odobreni plan sigurnosne zaštite broda;
Ime i podaci osobe odgovorne za sigurnosnu zaštitu u društvu i časnika odgovornog za sigurnosnu zaštitu broda za kontakt 24 sata dnevno. Posljednjih 10 luka, datum/vrijeme odlaska, stupanj sigurnosti u tim lukama, posebne i dodatne mjere koje su poduzete u tim lukama. Trenutna razina sigurnosti na brodu. Pilotage
The Pilot Service „Ploce Pilot“ covers Ploce and Metkovic ports.
Pilotage service is available 24 hours a day.
The pilot boat has a blue hull and a white cabin.
Pilot boarding points
- (a) Marine Pilotage – Pilot boarding point ia located approximately 2.0 miles WSW from Cape Višnjica (Lat. 43 ° 01.6 ‘N., Long 17 ° 22.1’ E).
- (b) Coastal Pilotage – Pilot boarding point for gas carriers (liquefied petroleum gas, liquefied natural gas) and tankers transporting hazardous liquids: Lat. 43 ° 05.0 ‘N., Long. 17 ° 00.0 ‘E.
PILOTAGE IS MANDATORY in the following cases:
- For vessels of over 500 gross tonnage and for vessels carrying dangerous chemicals, flammable substances and hazardous liquid substances.

Marine Pilotage – Final notice of arrival and the request for pilotage for berthing must be submitted to Ploče Port Authority – “Ploce Port Control Center ” on VHF Channel 9 or 16 at least one hour before arrival at the pilot boarding point (Lat. 43 ° 01.6 N., Long 17 ° 22.1 ‘E.).
Coastal Pilotage – Final notice of arrival and the request for coastal pilotage for gas carriers (liquefied petroleum gas, liquefied natural gas) and tankers carrying hazardous liquid chemicals must be submitted to Ploce Port Authority – «Ploče Port Control Center» at least 6 hours before pilot boarding point: Lat. 43 ° 05.0 ‘N., Long. 17 ° 00.0 ‘E.
Mooring services
To order a mooring boat and moorings, contact the “PLOCE PORT CONTROL CENTER” on VHF channel 9 at least 30 minutes before leaving the berth and at least one hour before arriving at the port anchorage. Mooring in the seaport of Ploče is performed exclusively, without exception, by the mooring service “Pomorski servis”.
