One of the components of the ITT Project is the Container Terminal, whose first phase of construction was completed in 2010. EUR 38.5 million was invested in it, and significant funds were invested in transhipment equipment, which was installed by the concessionaire Luka Ploče Ltd. It is a specialized modern terminal whose function is to increase the level of intermodality on the entire Corridor Vc.
The fist phase included the construction of 280 meters long and 27 meters wide quay, with a Ro-Ro ramp and a storage capacity of 60 thousand TEU per year. The second phase of construction that will follow will include the upgrade of the Terminal that will extend to 23 hectares of port area with an annual capacity of 500 thousand TEU.
The modern Container Terminal has strengthened the position of the port of Ploče in the intermodal network, and the increase in container traffic will set conditions for the implementation of the second and third phase of construction which will increase the capacity of the terminal.
